Petrolia Squires Lost Game One in Playoff Series against Tillsonburg

The Petrolia Squires took a 6 - 5 loss in game one of WOAA Senior AA playoff action against the Tillsonburg Thunder on Saturday.

 

The Squires took a 2 - 1 lead in the first period with Kyle Quinn, Scott McPahil (PP) and Rob Vanwyseberghe scoring.  Adam Vandepoele scored on the power play and Shane Balcomb added to the tally in the first for Tillsonburg.

 

Second period saw Tilsonburg take a 5 - 4 lead scoring three goals in the period.  Shane Balcomb scored his second of the night on a power play along with Travis Lisabeth and Devin Homick.  Petrolia single in the second was scored by Mark Dunlop.

 

Action continued in the third and late in the period with 1:05 remaining Jesse Drydak scored to even the game.  In the final minute of play with :47 seconds left on the clock Pat Ouellet scored to give Tillsonburg the win.

 

Tillsonburg outshot the Squires 40 - 27.  Ben Thomas earned the win for the Thunder with 25 saves.  Chris Houle took the loss with 32 saves.

 

The two teams are back in action on Friday February 8th for game two of the series in Petrolia.  Game time 8:00 pm.
