Petrolia Squires Take Game Three in Playoff Series against Tillsonburg

The Petrolia Squires hosted the Tillsonburg Thunder for game three in first round of WOAA Senior AA Hockey League playoffs.  This game was rescheduled from last Friday that was cancelled due to weather.  The Squires were down 2 - 0 in the series but came back and took game three with a final score of 5 - 3.

Action went scoreless in the first period and in the second the Thurder took a 2 - 1 lead.  Nathan Peacock lead the Thunder scoring back to back goals.  Squired goal was scored by Adam McCallum goal to narrow the gap heading into the third.

In the third period Tyler Lamb of Tillsonburg gave the Thunder the 3 - 1 lead.  The Squires never let up and continue with a series of goals starting with Mitch Zavitz scoring just :17 seconds after Tillsonburg's final goal.  Jesse Drydak evened the score with 16:05 left on the clock.  The game winner was a shorthanded goal scored by Kyle Quinn.  As game was closing in Tillsonburg pulled their goalie for the extra man and Dan Veenema put it away to secure the win for Petrolia.

Petrolia outshot Tillsonburg 45 - 32.  Netminder Chris Houle earned the win for Squires, Ben Thomas took the loss.

Tillsonburg leads the series 2 - 1 and the two teams will meet in Petrolia on Friday February 15 at 8:00 pm.
