Two weeks ago, Ben Lapointe a fourteen year old Sarnia ten pin bowler experienced the excitement of being victorious in the December YBT (Youth Bowling Tour) singles tournament held at Parkway Lanes in St. Catharines.
The YBT tournaments give the youth CTF (Canadian Tenpin Federation) bowlers a chance to try winning scholarship money for their education.
The tournaments are sanctioned by the CTF and are held in other participating bowling centres in Mississauga, Oshawa, London, Toronto, Hamilton, Woodbridge and Guelph.
The scratch tournaments are held once a month on sport lane conditions (difficult lane conditions).
Ben qualified 8th out of 32 bowlers to make the one game match play semi finals elimination round where he qualified 4th. He then eliminated his three other competitors in the step ladder finals winning his final game by a score of 199-159. Ben bowled eight games to become the champion.
