Legionnaires Lost in Shoot Out

The Legionnaires traveled to Strathroy on Saturday night and came up short in shoot out to give the Rockets a 5 - 4 win.

 

Sarnia's Cody Trowell scored the only goal in the first period to give the Legionnaires a 1 - 0 lead.  Second period saw Bobby King widen the lead to two.  Penalties became the enemy for the Legionnaires as the Rockets scored two back to back power play goals and the period ended with both sides even with 2 each.

 

Third period saw the Legionnaires regain the two point lead with the first goal scored on the power play by Davis Boyer and the second goal by blueliner Billy Grillo.  The Rockets again bounced back and tied the game with goals scored by Jack Kilgour and Nick Boyer.  Score remained tied at 4 - 4 sending the game into overtime. 

 

Overtime didn't solve and it went to shoot out where Sarnia's three shooters were denied and the Rockets first two missed but Tyler Duarte scored to win the game for the Rockets.

 

Strathroy outshot the Legionnaires 43 - 32.   Rockets Jack Moylan earned the win in net made 28 saves.  Hunter Johnson took the loss with 38 saves.

 

The Legionnaires remain in 6th place with a record of 17-14-1. 

 

Sarnia will travel to Leamington on Sunday for their final game before Christmas.
