5 CHL players named to 2014 U.S Preliminary National Junior Team Roster

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League announced that five current CHL players along with two former players have been named to the preliminary roster for the 2014 U.S. National Junior Team which was released by USA Hockey today.

Included in the Preliminary Roster is Sarnia Sting Anthony DeAngelo.   

A total of 26 players will participate in a training camp Dec. 15-18 at the University of Minnesota's Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis, with preparations continuing in Angelholm, Sweden, before the final 23-man roster is announced on Dec. 23. The U.S. will play three games before the start of the IIHF World Junior Championship, including Dec. 17 against Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minn., and contests in Angelholm vs. Finland on Dec. 20 and Sweden on Dec. 22.

The preliminary roster includes three players that helped the U.S. capture the gold medal at the IIHF World Junior Championship a year ago including forward Ryan Hartman of the Plymouth Whalers.

Anthony Stolarz (London Knights)

Defencemen:
Connor Carrick (Hershey Bears)*
Tony DeAngelo (Sarnia Sting)

Forwards:
Adam Erne (Quebec Remparts)
Ryan Hartman (Plymouth Whalers)
Stefan Matteau (Albany Devils)**
Henrik Samuelsson (Edmonton Oil Kings)

*Carrick is a CHL graduate who was a member of the Plymouth Whalers in 2012-13
