Sarnia Sting Lost Game One in Home/Home Series Against the Spitfires

The Sarnia Sting were in Windsor Saturday night for game one in the home/home series against the Spitfires.  Both sides were tied 3 - 3 heading into the third period when the Spitfires opened up and scored three unanswered goals to take the win with a final score of 6 - 2 in the Ontario Hockey League regular league game.

 

First period action saw Windsor score late in the period shorthanded at 18:25 by Josh Ho-Sang.  Still on the power play Nickolay Goldobin scored :26 seconds later to even the score and the two sides were even heading into the second.

 

Windsor scored the first two goals in the second the first at 5:13 by Remy Giftopoulos then at 8:53 by Ben Johnson.  At 11:58 Vladislav Kodola scored for the Sting and at 15:54 Anthony DeAngelo tied the game on a power play.

 

Scoring the three goals in the third for Windsor were Ben Johnson, Josh Ho-Sang and Ty Blicke.

 

Windsor outshot the Sting 42 - 34.  Brodie Barrick in net made 36 saves for the Sting, Alex Fotinos earned the win made 31 saves.

 

The Sting scored two on five power play opportunities, Windsor scored one on four. 

 

The Sting are back in action today when they host Windsor in the second game of the home/home series and the Sting's third game on the weekend.  Game time at 4:00 pm at the RBC Centre.
