Sarnia FC Red U10 Earns Trip to Finals

Sarnia FC Red has had two outstanding weeks of soccer. Last week marked the last regular season game and had the Red Machine travelling down to Chatham to battle the u9 Attack squad.  

The team would come out all systems go and play a composed commanding game that lead them to a decisive victory with goals scored by multiple players including Jacob Drapotoy (5), Jordan Foster, Janzen Wark, Ewan Morrisson, Wyatt Ladanchuk and Matthew Gouveia with a Brilliant header off a tremendous corner kick from Eric Larocque. Matthew Gouveia and Brannyn Cooper would play solid in net with tremendous, supportive and defensive play from Jacob Beaudoin.

The boys would then advance to the quarter finals in the Brantford Soccer Classic tournament on August 10-11. The boys played solid games and scored 11 goals in three games on day one with Matthew Gouveia and Costa Colombo both sharing 2 shut outs for the Fc Red. The quarter final game was played on Sunday against a tough, well established team from Whitby. The boys would give them a very tough game pressuring throughout, but were unable to capitalize with a goal. The boys efforts were well backed by keeper Matthew Gouveia who made many, many diving saves to help keep his team close. The FC Red ran out of time and would lose this match 2-0, but held their heads high as they played one of their best games of the season.


 

The superb weekend they had in Brantford had the Sarnia FC Red Machine firing on all cylinders as they took the field for semi final play against league rivals Sarnia FC White.

Sarnia Red would open the scoring early on and never look back. The team worked together moving the ball well and were rewarded with a hat trick by striker Jacob Drapotoy and a fourth goal in the first half by winger Jeremy MacMillan. Eric Larocque was on fire as he took a commanding presence on the field denying the Sarnia White squad much room to play and setting up three goals. Matthew Gouveia would command the game from the back with solid, smart goal tending and would end the first half with a shut out. Jeremy MacMillan would switch into net in the second half to give Matthew Gouveia a chance to work the field as his team enjoyed a 4-0 lead. He wouldn't disappoint and would add the team's fifth goal on a brilliant header off a corner kick by Jacob Drapotoy. The white would try to mount an attack and put the pressure on and scored two goals of their own. Gouveia and MacMillan would switch spots again and MacMillan would continue to pressure from the wing.

Superb play from Ewan Morrisson, Matteus Hartmann, Jordan Foater, Alex Weir, Brannyn Cooper, Jacob Beaudoin, Wyatt Ladanchuk and Janzen Wark would keep the pressure on until the end of the game. The game would end with one more goal by Jacob Drapotoy and two spectacular saves by Matthew Gouveia to give FC Red the 6-2 victory and a trip to the Championships.
