The Northern Jr. Vikings
football team started their
season with a strong showing
against a hard-fighting
Bluebombers squad.
The Jr. Vikings opened the
scoring five minutes into
the 1st quarter when Blake
Maxfield returned a SCITS
punt into the Bluebombers
end of the field, and Niles
Crews followed up with a 30
yard run into the endzone.
Maxfield kicked the extra
point. Two minutes later,
the Vikings regained
possession and Easton Klaudi
ran the ball in for a major
from 40 yards out. Maxfield
made good on the extra
point. The Vikings ended the
1st quarter with another
touchdown, this time on a 50
yard run by quarterback Kobe
Lundy.
Minutes into the 2nd

struck again, this time on a
90 yard kickoff return. He
converted the extra point.
The Vikings added three more
touchdowns in the 2nd
quarter, one by Lundy,
another by Crews, and a
third by Jordan Walsh on a
70 yard run. Maxfield made
good on all three extra
points. The Bluebombers put
a touchdown on the board
near the end of the quarter,
leaving the first half score
Vikings 49, Bluebombers 7.
SCITS added three more
majors in the 2nd half and
touchdowns by the Vikings'
Walsh, Cooper, and Maxfield,
who also made good on all of
his convert attempts, left
