The
Alvinston Indians traveled to Fingal
on Thursday evening, for game 2 of
the best 3 out of 5 League Playoff
Finals.
The
Indians were looking to rebound
after their game 1 loss, but it was
not to be in game 2. The Indians
allowed two runs in the second, with
one run coming courtesy of a Jamie
Peat solo home run for St. Thomas.
Peat then singled and came around to
score again in the fourth inning,
making it a 3-0 lead for St. Thomas.
St. Thomas would add one more run in
the fifth inning when Mark Coleman
tripled and then scored on an RBI
single by Troy Rick.
With the
score now 4-0, Alvinston was able to
add two runs in the seventh inning,
but that was all as Dan Beecroft
pitched a tidy game for St. Thomas,
allowing only 4 hits and 3 walks in
seven innings of work. Brad Young
walked in the seventh for Alvinston
with one out, and with two out Ryan
Chapman did the same, and Craig
Lyons scored both runners on an RBI
double to the fence. The final score
was 4-2.
Brad
Young started for Alvinston and
allowed three runs, and two earned
runs in 3 1/3 innings of work. Kyle
Crawford relieved Young and allowed
1 earned run in 2 2/3 innings of
ball. Jamie Shields, Andy Triest,
and Young had singles for Alvinston,
with the lone extra base hit in the
game for Alvinston, going to Craig
Lyons.
Game 3
in the series goes Sunday night in
Alvinston at 8pm. Alvinston needs to
try to hold off St. Thomas, to try
and make it a series, or their 2012
season will be over. Come on out and
catch some great fastball action!
