Wallaceburg, On - The Lakers held on in the final
period to take their first win of the season with as
they defeated the Kingsville Comets 5 - 4 on
Wednesday night.
Kingsville took a leading 3 - 1 lead in the second
period after scoring 2 in the first period and
adding the third goal just :53 seconds into the
second period. Wallaceburg then answered back
with back to back goals and the second period ended
with both sides even with 3 apiece.
In the
third Wallaceburg took the lead for the first time
scoring two goals in the first minute of play in the
third period. Kingsville narrowed the gap at
3:56 and the two sides played solid hockey until the
end as the both teams took just one penalty each in
the third period and Wallaceburg held on to to take
the win.
Mike
Myers, Jeff Nolfo and Sam Jasmin each scored a
single and Jake Carter scored two that included the
game winning goal. Mark Sobocan, Andy Britton, Ryan
Desjarlais and Daniel Beaudion scored for
Kingsville.
Kingsville went 0 for 6 in power play opportunities,
Wallaceburg went 1 for 1. Devine Cove earned
the win in net with a total of 28 saves Nathan
Crankshaw took the loss with 27.
Wallaceburg is back in action on Saturday when they
travel to Alvinston for an 8:00pm start.
