On Friday
night the Major Atoms travelled to Essex Arena to face off against the Sun
County Panthers. The team, supported by Ethan Langford in net, held the Panthers
to only 2 goals in the first period and a half of play but could not keep up the
momentum. The Panthers went on to a 9-2 victory with Sting goals by Ethan Kerby
assisted by Blake Butler and Blake Butler from Ethan Kerby.
The Major Atoms notched their first victory of the season on Saturday in a
re-match against the Kitchener Jr. Rangers. The Sting came out strong in the
first period of play dominating the Rangers. Ethan Kerby opened the scoring
with a power play goal, assisted by Blake Butler and Bailey Moffat. Tyler
Steeves added the Sting’s second goal of the period with a pass from Kaleb
Edlington. In the second period, Blake Butler notched his 2nd goal
for the weekend by pouncing on a rebound from a “blue line clapper” launched by
Evan Wammes (also assisted by Wil O’Leary Dilosa). The Sting held off the
Rangers to a scoreless third period and skated to a 3-0 victory with Adam Mino
recording his first shut-out of the year.
The team
travel to London this weekend for the London Jr. Knights Early Bird Tournament.
