Sarnia Girls U13 headed across the boarder last week to play in the Michigan soccer Classic Tournament in Rochester Hills
and came away Champions in an intense penalty shootout final.
Sarnia started with a 0 -0 tie against Michigan Gators with Madisyn Mika recording the shutout. Sarnia's second game was an 8 - 0 win against the hosts, Waza FC. Chloe Kennedy scored a hat trick, Ashley Edgar with 2 goals and Sydney Caron and Mickayla Moses with single, Madisyn Mika with little action again had the shutout. Games 3 was a 5 - 0 win against Dexter FC. Sydney Caron with a hat trick and Chloe Kennedy, Mickayla Moses with singles and Madisyn Mika with her third shutout in a row.
The Final was against the Michigan Gators, Sarnia started well and took the lead with a nice pass from Robyn Blair through to Chloe Kennedy who beat the defence to score. Controversy just before half as Gators swung in a nice cross and the referee call a penalty from a phantom hand ball with both benches confused. Sarnia has their chances but couldn't score and Madisyn Mika pulled off some great saves to force the game to extra time then penalties with the score tied at 1 -1. Chloe Kennedy, Mickayla Moses and Daphne Hibma scored from the penalty spot with Madisyn Mika making 2 heroic saves for Sarnia to win.
