Canada Wins Silver at the U18 World Baseball Championships in South Korea

At the IBAF World Junior Baseball Championships in South Korea Canada went up against the USA in the Gold Medal game.  Previously Canada defeated the US 1 - 0 in a close game that was decided in an extra inning.

In the final game the USA defeated Canada by a score of 6 -2.  Both teams scored single runs in the second inning, but in the third the USA scored three runs and never looked back.  Canada scored one more run in the fifth and the USA scored two more in the seventh.

This is the first Silver Medal for Canada in this event.  The last medal won was a Bronze in 2006.

Sarnia Midget Braves pitcher Jake Marks is a member of the silver medal winning team.  Marks was the starting pitcher and went six innings in the game against Italy (W 4-3) and relief pitcher for one inning in the game against South Korea (L - 3).  Marks faced a total of 48 batters, stuck out 7, allowed 7 hits and 8 runs.
