Leamington, On - The Sarnia Legionnaires opened their season on the road in Leamington and come home with a 4 - 3 loss. Leamington took a 4 - 0 lead with one goal scored in the first period and three in the second before Sarnria Zack Tuchklaper scored Sarnia's first of the season goal on a power play assisted by Jason Teschke and Brent Sauve. Late in the second Brent Sauve scored a second power play goal assisted by Josh Kestner and Derek D'Andrea. Sarnia was trailing 4 - 2 heading into the third and at 15:51 in the final period Matt Cimetta scored to narrow the gap to one. Derek D'Andrea and Steve Farlow assisted on the goal. Time ran out giving Leamington the win.
Sean Parker took the loss in net with a total of 36 saves. Matt Mancian earned the win making 28 saves.
Sarnia went 2 for 9 on powerplay opportunities, Leamington went 1 for 7.
The Legionnaires return to the ice on Thursday Sept 13 for their home opener against LaSalle. Game time set for 7:10 at the Sarnia Arena.
