Jr Vikings Football Continue Winning Ways

Thursday September 28, 2012

The Jr. Vikings football team continued their winning ways with a 70-14 win over a St. Pat's team that fought hard until the final whistle.

The Vikings scored twice in the first quarter. Blake Maxfield started things off with a 60 yard run at the 11:00 mark, and Austin Cooper turned a defensive interception into a touchdown several minutes later. Maxfield converted both extra points.

The Vikings had a big second quarter, putting five majors on the scoreboard. Cooper added his second touchdown and Kobe Lundy scored the next two from the quarterback position. With 3:00 left in the 2nd, Niles Crews ran the ball in from 20 yards out, and Easton Klaudi brought the half to a close with a 15 yard scramble into the endzone. Maxfield continued his perfect record with extra points.

The Vikings led 49-0 at the half.

St. Pat's opened the 3rd quarter scoring with a touchdown and extra point of their own. The Vikings responded with another major on a big 90 yard run from Crews and a Maxfield extra point. The 4th quarter saw another touchdown from the Irish and two more majors from the Vikings, first on a Jordan Walsh 60 yard run and then on a final touchdown from Vincent Ham on a kickoff return. Maxfield maintained his perfect extra point display.

The game ended Vikings 70, St. Pat's 14.
