Sarnia, On - Coming off a 5 - 4 shoot
out win the night before in London the Sarnia Legionnaires were ready to
take on the Chatham Maroons in their own house and won their second with
a final score of 6 - 4.
An action packed 1st period
between the Sarnia Legionnaires and Chatham Maroons saw Sarnia take a 2 - 1 lead at in the period. Bobby King gave Sarnia the lead at 12:31
with assistance by Jason Teschke and Matt Cimetta. The Maroons
answered back :26 seconds later to tie things up with Sean Myers scoring.
Davis Boyer scored his first goal as a Legionnaire assisted by Jason Teschke and Derek D'Andrea
to take the lead once again. Also in the first period Legionnaires Steve
Farlow and Maroons Eric Palazzolo saw just 6:47 minutes before they headed to
the dressing room for fighting.
Jeff Paulley took a penalty in the first
minute of the second period, served his time then stepped on the ice for
just :07 seconds and was called for a high stick and was put back into
the box. With a man short Hunter Tyczynski scored for the
Legionnaires to give the Legionnaires the 2 point lead. Assisting
on the goal was Jason Teschke. Legionnaires 4th goal was with the
help of the Maroon Ethan Morrison who scored on his own net to give the
Legionnaires the 4 - 1 lead. Matt Cimetta was credited with the goal. Paulley took another penalty giving the Maroons the extra man which they
capitalized on with Nate Pietens scoring the power play goal. The
penalty box had Paulley's name on it as he
made his 4th trip to the sin bin to serve a bench minor for too many men on
the ice. Legionnaires managed to killed off the penalty.
With 2:13 left in the second period the Maroons managed to battle back
and narrowed the gap by one on a goal by Trevor Richardson. Sarnia led 4
- 3 heading into the third period.
6:20 into the third period Matt Cimetta took
a penalty and the Legionnaires found themselves short handed. Sean Myers
of Chatham took a shot from the point on the power play and put
it into the back of the net to even the score 4 - 4. With 3:33 to go
Davis Boyer scored his second of the game on a wrap around to give the
Legionnaires the 5 - 4 lead. Jason Teschke earned his 4th assist
of the game on Boyer's goal with Derek D'Andrea earning his 2nd assist.
With :43 seconds left Chatham pulled their goalie for the extra man but
Sarnia's Josh Kestner scored into the empty net to seal the game.
Assisting on the goal were Matt Cimetta and Brent Sauve. Time ran out
giving the Legionnaires their second league win of the season.
