Wallaceburg Lakers Defeated Wheatley in Great Lakes Jr C Action

Wallaceburg, On - The Wallaceburg Lakers took a 6 - 4 win over the Wheatley Sharks at home on Wednesday.  In the first period Wallaceburg took a 3 - 2 lead.  Both goals scored by Wheatley were on the powerplay the first by Mike Reid and the second by Dan Matoski.  Jeff Nolfo, Bobby Domin and Lucais Meyskens each scored for the Lakers. 

Period two action saw Wallaceburg widen their lead by one on a goal by Justin Whitson.In the third period Eric Rivard scored back to back goals for the Sharks to tie things up.  Wallaceburg went on and scored a pair of their own the first at 16:08 by Jeff Nolfo and the second at 16:50 by Sam Jasmin to regain the lead and to take the win.

 

Wallaceburg outshot Wheatley 44 - 25 and went zero for five on the power play.  Wheatley scored twice on two power play opportunities.

 

Devine Cove earned the win for the Lakers turning away 21 shots.  Marc Tremblay took the loss turning away 38 shots.

 

Wallaceburg is now has 3 wins, 1 loss, 1 overtime loss and they sit in third spot in the North Division.  Wheatley has 1 win and 5 losses in the early season.

 

Wallaceburg now travels to Mooretown on Saturday September 29 to take on the Flags.  Game time 7:30 at the Moore Recreation Centre.
