11 is the Magic Number for Point Edward Tykes
January 24, 2012

Back to back wins closes out season long road trip!  The Point Edward Blackhawks traveled to Parkhill to face off with the leagues number 2 team on quick ice at the Parkhill Memorial Arena.  The game would see the Blackhawks carry much of the play and find themselves ahead mid way through the contest 3-1 after repeatedly being turned aside by the Parkhill Net minder who was outstanding.  Eventually the Blackhawks unrelenting pressure would see the puck find the back of the net 11 times.  Getting his first win of the season in net Lucas Cadieux did the job keeping the Parkhill team to just 1 goal as the Blackhawks would end the game with an 11 – 1 win.  Scoring 5 times Cameron McCarthy led the Hawks on the game sheet while “Performance Player of the Game” Carter Jackson was a force to be reckoned with distributing the puck all over the ice to teammates displaying the teamwork the coaching staff has come to expect.

Sunday January 22nd would see the Blackhawks facing off against Mt. Brydges Gold in the Hawks biggest test of the season!  A back and forth game would keep all fans on the edge of their seats and cheering wildly as the game was hotly contested at both ends of the ice.  In a game where teamwork and tough defensive hockey was needed to slow down a one dimensional opponent the Boys in red prevailed with an 11 -9 win.  In what couldn’t be called a goalies duel Lucas Cadieux got his second straight win keeping enough pucks out of the net and stopping Mt. Brydges  lone goal scorer twice late in the game to preserve the win!  “Performance Player of the Game”  Owen Caley was praised by the coaching staff for his defense first play during the game.  7 different goal scorers prove that a balanced scoring attack where every player is involved always triumphs as late in the game the Hawks looked to have the legs necessary to play overtime if needed.

Your Point Edward Blackhawks return home next weekend January 28th to face-off against Ilderton Gold at the Point Edward Memorial Arena at 10am.

Tickets are going fast as the undefeated Blackhawks return home for the first time since mid December!
