The Petrolia Squires
hosted the Clinton
Radars Friday night in
WOAA Senior AA hockey
and sent them home with
a losing score of 6 - 3.
Petrolia's Jeremiah
Goodacre scored the only
goal in the first period
to give the Squires the
lead. Mitch Zavitz
and Jason McPhail
assisted on the opening
goal.
In the second Clinton
would tie things up on a
power play just :33
seconds into the period.
Petrolia answered back
with Tanner Tomlinson
scoring from Chase Clark
and Breydan Belan.
In this see saw race
Clinton tied things up
only to have Petrolia
score a third goal to
take the 3 - 2 lead
heading into the third
period. Final goal
in the second period was
scored by Tomlinson from
Mike Gardner and Belan.
In the third Petrolia
pulled ahead 4 - 2
just over the 2 minute
mark of the period with
Chase Clark scoring with
Belan and Tomlinson
assisting. Clark
would widen the lead
later in the period on a
power play assisted by
Tomlinson (4th point of
the night) and Chris
McPhail.
Action continued and
Clinton scored a power
play goal with just over
5 minutes remaining and
continue to fight back
despite trailing by 2.
In the final minuters
Clinton pulled their
goalie but Scott McPhail
scored assisted by
netminder Chris Houle
into the empty with :17
seconds remaining.
Chris Houle earned
the win in net for
Petrolia making a total
of 32 saves.
The Squires are back in
action on Saturday in
Komoka. Next home
game is on Friday Jan 27
at 8:00 pm vs Milverton.
