There
has been a lot of movement recently in
the Sting Camp with trades and
acquisitions. General Manager
Jacques Beaulieu made the following
announcements this week:
Wednesday January 4, 2012
Acquired Overage defenceman Adrian
Robertson from the Windsor Spitfires
The Sting have sent a 3rd
round pick in the 2012 OHL Priority
Selection (originally SSM’s) a 2nd
round pick in 2016 and a 2nd
round pick in 2017 in exchange for
Robertson.
Robertson who was the
Captain in Windsor is having a strong
season with the Spitfires scoring 9
goals to go with 24 assists in 39 games
this season.
Beaulieu explains his
thoughts on the transaction.
“Adrian is a top tier
defenceman in our league and instantly
improves our hockey club. His
experience and leadership alone will
prove invaluable down the stretch and
towards the playoffs. He will play a
lot of key minutes for us on the
blueline and his addition will improve
our entire defensive unit. He is
definitely a player we have coveted for
sometime as an important piece for us
moving forward.”
Robertson will joined the
Sting on Thursday at the team practice
before departing for Erie.

Sting Acquire
overage forward
Tyler J. Brown from Kingston Frontenacs
for Jack Nevins
In return for Brown the
Sting have dealt Jack Nevins and a 3rd
round pick in 2016 to the Frontenacs.
Beaulieu explains his
thoughts on the transaction.
“Tyler is a skilled
forward with an element of grit to his
game as well. At the time of the deal
he’s Kingston’s leading scorer and after
already acquiring Spooner there is an
existing chemistry there between the two
players. I have coached Tyler
previously in London and really like
what he can add to our team.”
Brown will be in the
Sting lineup Friday night when the team
takes on the Erie Otters in Erie.

Sting
Aquired Ryan Spooner from the Kingston
Frontenacs in exchange for Ryan
Kujawinski
The Sting has sent Ryan
Kujawinski to the Frontenacs in exchange
for 19 year old forward Ryan Spooner.
Spooner a 2nd
round pick of the Boston Bruins was
actually an invite to Team Canada’s
Selection Camp this past December but
could not participate when diagnosed
with mononucleosis. He has since been
cleared by doctors to resume playing.
Beaulieu explains his
thoughts on the transaction.
“Ryan Spooner is one of
the elite players in all of junior
hockey. In order to acquire him we had
to pay a very high price. It’s a
difficult decision to trade a 16-year
old first round pick but at the end of
the day this sends a very clear message
as to what our goal as an organization
is. We feel that Spooner is another
piece to the puzzle that will help us
contend for an OHL Championship this
season.”
Spooner is expected to
join the team in Erie and make his Sting
debut Friday night versus the Otters.
