A couple of very
close and
exciting games
took place in
the PeeWee
Division on
Monday October
1.
In the opener
Mark Bridge led
the Fury to a
30-26 victory
over the Force.
Jackson Smiley
put the Force on
top with a 13
yard run.
However, the
Fury came
roaring back
with 2 answered
touchdowns on
runs of 45 and
65 yards by
Bridge. Bridge
also added a
convert. Late in
the half, Cam
Havers spun out
of a tackle and
ran 3 yards to
narrow the
Fury's lead. The
Fury took a
14-12 lead to
the break. In
the second half
the teams traded
touchdowns.
First Smiley
scampered 11
yards and his
brother Avery
ran in the
convert as the
Force retook the
lead. Once more
the Fury
responded with a
pair of
touchdowns by
the brilliant
Bridge on runs
of 53 yards and
1 yard. Bridge
successfully
converted both
these
touchdowns. The
Force did not
give up and a 40
yard run by
Avery Smiley and
a convert by Cam
Havers narrowed
the gap to 4.
The final drive
of the Force ran
out of time and
the Fury hung on
for the win.
In the nightcap,
the Avengers
scored first on
the Storm. On
their opening
drive, the
powerful running
of Mitchell
Hillsdon drove
the ball down
the field. The
possession
concluded with a
4 yard run by
Hillsdon and a 2
point convert by
Zachary
Tremblay. The
league leading
Storm
methodically
moved the ball
down the field
on their ensuing
drive with
Hunter Hendrie
plunging over
the goal line
from the 1. The
Storm earned a 1
point convert on
a pass from
Hendrie to
Austyn Ball.
After the
Avenger's next
drive stalled,
the Storm drove
the ball down
the field and
scored their
second major on
a 3 yard scamper
by Hendrie. The
half ended with
the Storm up
13-8. Garrett
Patterson scored
a pair of
touchdowns for
the Storm in the
second half, on
runs of 3 and 40
yards. Zachary
Tremblay replied
for the Avengers
on an 18 yard
bootleg and his
second
successful
convert of the
game. The final
score was Storm
27, Avengers 16.
