Lambton AAA Minor Peewee went 2 - 1 in recent action

October 1, 2012

After a disappointing result at the London Early Bird Tournament last weekend, the Lambton Jr Sting pulled back with two exhibition game wins. An 8-0 home win against the Blue Water Stars and a 6-2 away win against the St Clair Saints.

In Alliance League action on the weekend the Minor Peewee's faced the Kitchener Rangers at home at the RBC Centre.

The game was totally dominated in the first period by the Sting with a total of 8 shots on the Ranger net and no shots from Kitchener getting through the Stings' defence.  With just 22 seconds left in the first period a beautiful power play goal by Hunter Monkhouse, assisted by Dylan Riddell gave the Jr Sting the lead heading in the second.

The second period saw both sides receive penalties.  The Rangers got through the Jr Sting defence with a couple of shots on goaltender Liam McCarthy that were turned away. The Jr Sting continue with their assault on the Kitchener net but the Rangers manage to score the equalizer then went on and score two more 3-1, then with just 28 seconds left of play in the second, Ryleigh Vanderwal scores a great goal assisted by Cory Smith bringing the score to 3-2.

The Jr. Sting fought valiantly in the third period and in the final minutes the Jr Sting pulled their goalie for the extra man but the Rangers score into the empty net to take the win 4-2.
