Sault
Ste. Marie, On - In
the Ontario Hockey
League the Sting are
now 2 - 0 on the
road after defeating
the Greyhounds 6 - 4
on Saturday night in
Sault Ste. Marie .
Brodie Barrick
playing his first
OHL game in net for
the Sting earned his
first win making a
total of 28 saves
including a penalty
shot in the first
period.
Barrick was the
Sting’s 7th
round pick in 2010,
played last season
for Carleton Place
in the CCHL.
Power plays were a
factor in the game
as the Sting scored
four on six
opportunities in the
win and the
Greyhounds scored
two on eight
opportunities.
Craig Hottot opened
the scoring at 12:35
with his first goal
of the season.
At 14:26 the
Greyhounds answered
back scoring a
shorthanded goal by
Alex Gudbranson.
The next five goals
in the games were
power play goals.
"The kids battled
and worked hard,"
quoting head coach
Jacques Beaulieu
from Sarnia Sting
website. "We were a
little undisciplined
at times, but we got
some timely goals on
the power play. Alex
and Charlie (Sarault)
were clicking with
the man advantage
and made some good
plays."

Sarnia added two
more power play
goals in the first
period at 16:01 and
19:04 to take a 3 -
1 lead at the end of
the first period.
Reid Boucher and
Alex Galchenyuk
scored for the
Sting.
In the second period
each team shared
goals power play
goals with Sarnia
scoring first with
Nikolay Goldobin
netting his first of
the season.
Nick Cousins scored
for the Greyhounds.
Sarnia led 4 - 2
after the second.
In the third Sault
Ste. Marie narrowed
the gap to one
scoring the first
goal in the period
on the power play by
Sergey Tolchinsky at
2:03. The
final power play
goal of the game
came at 10:54 by
Alex Galchenyuk and
the final goal of
the game was scored
by Justice Dundas
his first of the
season at 16:33.
Alex Galchenyuk
earned four points
in the game with two
goals and two
assists.
Reid Boucher earned
three points with a
goal and two
assists.
Hottot earned two
points with a goal
and assist.
Charlie Sarault
earned two points
with two assists.
Sarnia outshot Sault
Ste. Marie 43 - 31.
As previously
mentioned Brodie
Barrick made 28
saves, Matt
Murray took the loss
for the Greyhounds
making a total of 37
saves.
The first two stars
of the night went to
Sting players with
Alex Galchenyuk
earning the number
one star and Charlie
Sarault being
selcted number two.
Andrew Fritsch of
the Greyhounds was
named third star.
The Sting now have 2
wins - 3 losses
and 1 shoot out loss
for the season.
The Sting are back
on the road on
Thanksgiving Monday
for an afternoon
game in Windsor.
Sarnia will be home
next weekend with
games on Saturday
against the Niagara
Ice Dogs at 7:05 pm
and the Greyhounds
will be in town on
Sunday for a rematch
starting at 2:05 pm.
