The Petrolia Squires
won their home
opener in WOAA Sr.
AA Hockey action
defeating the
Clinton Radars with
a final
score of 3 - 2.
The Radars took a 2
- 0 lead in the
first period with
both goals scored by
Kyle Provily, the
second goal while on
a power play.
The first Squire
goal of the season
was scored by
ex-Legionnaires
player Jesse Drydak
assisted by Chris
McPhail.
Clinton remained in
the lead heading
into the third 2 -
1.
In the third Tyler
Haddon tied things
up early in the
period. Mitch
Zavitz and Chris
Houle assisted on
the goal. With
4:02 left in the
game the Squires
found themselves
down one player
fighting off a
penalty kill,
however Rob
Vanwynsberghe manage
to find the back of
the net and scored
the game winner
shorthanded with
help from Brad Hull
and Scott McPhail.
Chris Houle earned
the win in net for
the Squires turning
away 40 shots.
Tommy Lee took the
loss making 20
saves.
The Squires are back
in action on Friday
October 12 when they
host Goderich at the
Greenwood Recreation
Centre. Game
time 8:00 pm.
