Petrolia Squires Continue to Lead after Shut Out Win

Petrolia, On -  On Friday the The Petrolia Squires shut out the Goderich Pirates 4 - 0 on home ice in WOAA Senior AA hockey.

Petrolia took a 2 - 0 lead in the first peirod with Tyler Haddon and Scott McPhail scoring. Both sides went scoreless in the second period and in the third Dan Veenema and Mitch Zavitz top off the total.

The Squires outshot the Pirates 46 - 26.  Chris Houle earned the shutout win with 22 saves.  Rich Wigmore took the loss with 42 saves.

Petrolia went 0 for 2 in power play opportunities, Goderich went 0 for 9.

Petrolia remains in first place in the standings race with 5 wins and 1 overtime loss for 11 points.  The Squires are one point ahead of Clinton.

The Squires are back in action next Friday November 2 when they host third place Komoka Classics in Petrolia at the Greenwood Recreation Centre.
