The Point Edward Peewee Blackhawks travelled to Strathroy and with a 4 goal third period, beat the Rockets 6-2 in Lambton-Middlesex League action.
The Blackhawks were a bit slow out of the gate and got a bit sloppy midway through the period when they got into penalty trouble but were able to keep the score at 0-0. Neither team were able to get any good scoring opportunities until late in the period when King drove the puck end-to-end to give the Point a 1-0 lead going into the second.
The start of the second saw Strathroy make a big push and Archer made a big save early to keep the Hawks lead. The Point immediately came back with their own opportunity and made it 2-0 when King took a shot from the blue-line and Burrowes buried the rebound. The Point’s two goal lead seemed to spur the Rockets as they got another breakaway midway through the period but Archer came up big once again but the lead wouldn’t last. As the period came to a close the Strathroy pressure finally paid off as they tied the game with two goals in the last two minutes before going into the final period of play.
With a pep talk from the coach, the Hawks immediately rebound and took control of the third when King once again pushed the puck up the ice to score and give the Point a one goal lead. Shortly thereafter, Horner pass the puck to Davis from the face-off to make it 4-2. With the Rockets struggling, Kennedy put the game away with a wrist shot from the left side and Lamore added one for good measure during a scramble in front of the net to end the game at 6-2.
