It
was
worth
the
drive to
Stratford!
The
Sting
Minor
PeeWee
MD team
made the
journey
to the
festival
city on
Sunday,
to
compete
with
Stratford.
At first
glance,
the
construction
and
detours
seemed
like the
biggest
obstacles
for the
Sting,
but when
the puck
dropped,
they
found
out
Stratford
had
arrived
ready to
play.
The
tempo of
the game
was set
early,
with the
play
going
end to
end, and
both
teams
trying
out
their
shoulder
pads,
this
however
led to a
few
early
penalties
for both
teams.
Sarnia
would
score
first
and
early,
on good
pressure
from the
D,
holding
the line
in the
Stratford
end, the
puck
would
bounce
all over
the
crease,
with
shots
coming
from a
number
of sting
players.
It
finally
ended up
on the
stick of
Greg
Ross,
who shot
it at
the net,
a fast
rebound
to
Spencer
Baillie,
and then
a
backhand
high
over the
goalie
for Evan
Trigatti
getting
his
first of
the
season.
Stratford
would
give the
Sting a
good
opportunity,
with the
first
power-play,
however
the
sting
looked
better
even
handed,
and were
not able
to
capitalize.
The play
continued
going
back and
forth,
with
Stevie
Schaefer
holding
the
line,
and
keeping
the puck
out of
the net.
Ian
Bailey
played
tough
along
the
boards,
keeping
the
Stratford
player
son
their
toes
with his
solid
two way
play.
Stratford
would
get on
the
board in
the
second,
when the
puck was
held in,
and the
players
whacked
at the
puck a
number
of
times,
finally
it freed
up, and
Stratford
was able
to put
it in
the
Sting
net, to
tie the
game.
Less
than 10
seconds
later,
the
Sting
made
some
FANTASTIC
passing
plays,
from
Cycyzurcko
to
Griffing,
to
Talbot-Ellis,
back to
Griffin
to Ellis
and in.
Tyler
made a
huge
dangle,
to put
the puck
in, and
give the
Sting
the 2-1
Lead.
The
second
period
saw a
number
of Head
hit
penalties,
and the
refs did
their
best to
straighten
out
their
calls,
at one
point
the
crowd
was
wondering
if
replacements
were
officiating,
but they
worked
it out
to even
both
sides.
Cole
Goossens
grabbed
a pass
from
Aidan
Clark,
and made
a great
rush up
the side
boards,
being
hooked
by 3
players,
before
hitting
the net.
Unfortunately
the puck
would
not go
in.
Kaleb
Zeytinoglu
banged
the puck
off the
cross
bar, and
missed a
couple
great
opportunities.
However
was not
able to
finish
it off.
The game
would
end with
Stratford
pulling
the
goalie,
and the
Sting
scrambling
in the
final
seconds
to pull
the
first
win of
regulation
in
Stratford.
