Lambton Jr Sting AAA Minor Peewee Take a Tie and Win this Weekend

The Minor Peewee faced the Chatham Cyclones on Saturday for the first of their weekend games.

 

The first period saw a penalty for the Sting but no score on the power play for the Cyclones. The teams enter the second period 0-0.


Chatham score the first shortly after another attempt at scoring on their power play brings no results and Lambtons' Kyle Kachan then scored a fantastic unassisted goal on their power play to level the game up.

 

A good third period by the Sting with solid saves by goal tender Luc Thorne-Smith to keep the Cyclones from scoring and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

 

The next day Lambton travel just down the road to the Clearwater Arena to face the St Clair Saints for an exhibition game.

 

The first period brought fast play from both sides with a lot of activity around both nets. The Saints got the first goal taking us into the second period 1-0 down. The second period brought more fierce play and penalties and St Clair got their second goal. The Sting fought back hard and Carson Perry put a lovely shot in assisted by Steele Harris bringing the score to 2-1. The Lambton boys kept putting on the pressure and Mitchell McAuley poped in the equalizer assisted by Kyle Kachan and Hunter Monkhouse.

 

The Sting headed into the third with the game tied up 2-2. The last period brough more penalties but the Saints they were unable to score on goalie Luc Thorne-Smith. Hunter Monkhouse assisted by Ryleigh Vanderwal gave Lambton a 3-2 kead. Despite pressure by St Clair the Jr Sting boys were relentless and Ryleigh Vanderwal assisted by Josh McLean and Hunter Monkhouse sealed the deal with a final goal giving the Sting boys a deserved 4-2 win.

 

The team thanked AP players Mitchell Mcauley, Blake Howard and Logan Gardner for their contribution over the weekend.
