Last Saturday evening, Sarnia Sting Minor Midgets overcame an early deficit to defeat the London Jr. Knights at Medway Arena by the score of 3 to 1.

London’s Owen came out strong and scored at 11:43 of the first for an early lead for the green and gold assisted by Nother and Neuland. Sarnia managed to stave off the attack and tied the score at 8:24. Blain Adams fired home a rebound assisted by Nolan Riley and Tyler Drury. Gage Riddoch and Cullen Smith then Callahan Doughty with Drew Morgan effectively killed off a Sarnia crosschecking penalty late in the period.

A London penalty fairly early in the second period led to a power play goal for Sarnia at 8:39. Riley redirected the puck past London’s Reed in net when Shane Salisbury fired the puck at the net from the blue line. Kyle Adams also drew an assist. At the end of two the score favoured the Sting 2-1.

Nolan from right wing set up Blain who fired the puck in high to the left side to solidify Sarnia’s lead at 15:09 of the third. Jeff Williams drew an assist for starting off the play. London seemed to tire in the third with the tight play on the smaller rink. Sarnia held the Knights in check following a late penalty so no further damage was done. Cole Lauzon was solid in net for Sarnia kicking out 15 shots while Sarnia fired 24 on the London net. It was rumoured after the game that coach Smitty remarked “It’s all good coaching when we win.”
