Wallaceburg Comes up Short in Loss against Kingsville

The two bottom teams in the Great Lakes Jr C Hockey league went toe to toe last night as Wallaceburg hosted the Kingsville Comets and dropped a close game by losing 4 - 3.  The Lakers were leading 3 - 1 heading into the third period and gave up three unanswered goals in the third in the loss.

 

In the first period Scott Lubbers and Jeff Morey scored for the Lakers taking a 2 - 0 lead in the first.  In the second the two sides shared singles with Adam Minovski scoring first for the Comets and Brennan Rainey adding the third goal for the lakers.

 

Scoring in the third for the Comets were Kyle Morand, Zack Brown and Zach Ross. 

 

Wallaceburg went 0 for 3 in power play opportunities.  Wallaceburg penalty kill lines denied Kingsville in 9 opportunities.

 

Both sides were even with 32 shots on goal each.

 

Lakers Denise Cove took the loss in net, Marcus Rees earned the win for the Comets.

 

Kingsville is in the bottom in the standings with a record of 5 - 16 - 0 - 2, for a total of 16 points, Wallaceburg is one above with a total of 16 points for a record of 7 - 15 - 0 - 2.

 

Wallaceburg travels to Alvinston on Friday night for a game start at 7:30 pm.
