Fortey & Gibbs Help Point Bantams Shutout Strathroy Rockets
November 25,
2012

The Point Edward Bantam Blackhawks hosted the Strathroy Rockets in Lambton-Middlesex league action and Noah Murrays five goal night allowed them to came away with a 8-0 win.
The Point Bantams hit the ice pretty aggressive and it paid off when Marr scored two minutes into the game with Waddell getting an assist. The remainder of the period saw the Hawks in the penalty box which dampened any efforts of extending their lead and Strathroy wasn’t really able to get any good scoring opportunities with the man advantage.
The Hawks settled-down in the second period which paid off with a four goal period. Courtemanche and Canie set up Murray with a give-and-go to make it 2-0. A minute later Riddell took a shot and Waddell put in the rebound to quickly make it 3-0. With the Point having the momentum they continued to push when Terpstra drove into the Rockets zone and Marr took a wrist shot that beat a battled Rockets goalie. Murray ended the periods scoring his second goal when he won the draw in the Rockets end and put it past the goalie with a low wrist shot.
The final period saw the Hawks take a few penalties but they had the game well under control. Murray got two more goals within twenty seconds of each other to give the Point a commanding 7-0 lead and added one more for good measure to end the game 8-0 for the Point Edward team.
Fortey and Gibbs shared the duties in net for the shut-out.
