The Alvinston
Indians traveled
to Fingal on
Thursday night,
to play the
Shedden Mission.
Shedden opened
the scoring
early, scoring a
run in the
opening stanza,
off of Indians
starter Kyle
Crawford.
Shedden
threatened in
that same
inning, and one
more, but
Alvinston and
Crawford were
able to keep
them off the
scoreboard.
In the top of
the fifth
inning, Jeff
Ingram changed
the score with
one swing of the
bat for
Alvinston, when
he cranked a
deep home run to
notch the game
at 1's.
Alvinston had a
chance to score
in their half of
the seventh, but
failed to do so,
and also failed
to do so in the
eighth, with the
international
tie breaker rule
in effect.
Shedden then
scored in their
half of the
eighth when
Tyler Lynch
drove in the
winning run, for
a 2-1 win.
Brad Young was
the hard luck
loser for
Alvinston, as he
relieved
Crawford in the
fourth inning,
and went the
rest of the way.
Young allowed
only 2 hits in 4
1/3 innings of
work.
The Indians are
now 3-2 on the
young season,
and travel to
St. Clements on
the weekend for
their first
tournament of
the season.
