Ajax,
On - The Sarnia Saints' premier
team opened their season on
Saturday May 12th on the road
against the Ajax Wanderers and
took a 36 - 12 loss.
Sarnia won the first half but
came up short in the second.
Sarnia's Chad Doran, opened the
scoring with a try at the 8
minute mark. The try was
converted by Sarnia's Mike Hart
for a 7 - 0 lead. Ajax
fought back with two unconverted
tries to take the a 10 - 7 lead.
Saint's Ian McEwen scored a try
at the 40 minute mark but Hart
was unable to convert. The
half ended with Sarnia leading
12 - 10.
In the second half Ajax
dominated putting up 26
unanswered points to take the
win.
Sarnia's Vance Jardine was named
man of the match for his
outstanding play.
In
the development side they too
lost to Ajax 29 - 5.
Nathan Mills scored the only try
for the Saints. The man of
the match award went to Dean
King of Sarnia.
The
Sarnia Saints are back in action
on May 26th when they travel to
Barrie. The Saints home
opener is set for June 2 at Norm
Perry Park at 3:00 pm.
