The Sarnia Sting Major
Bantam AA team was playing
the Hamilton Reps in game
three of the AA Playoff
Championship Series. The
Sting were up 4pts to 0pts
on the Reps and swept the
Reps with a home ice 5 - 0
victory.

When the puck dropped
the Sting came out flying.
There was no way the Sting
were going to let the Reps
ruin their day and that
would hold true.

With the game barely a
minute old Hamilton would
get a too many men on the
ice penalty and the Sting
would capitalize on their
opportunity with an early
power-play goal by Sean
Ginnell with Aiden
Chapdelaine and Gage Riddoch
picking up assists. Half way
through the second period
Sarnia would go on the
power-play again but this
time it was Drew Morgan
sneaking down from the point
for the one timer in the
slot on a beautifully setup
pass from Devin Butler and
Austin Cooper as the first
period would end with the
Sting up 2-0.
Second period action had
emotions running high as the
Reps picked up the physical
play but Sarnia was ready as
both teams racked up twenty
plus minutes in penalties.
Sarnia would score the only
goal of the second period as
Kyle Adams would bury the
puck on a pass from Aiden
Chapdelaine and Sean Ginnell
as the Sting headed into the
dressing room with a
commanding 3-0 lead.

As the teams hit the ice in
the third period the Sting
were all business knowing
that they were only
15minutes away from the
playoff championship. Sarnia
kept the pressure on the
Reps and continuously kept
the opposition in their own
end. Sarnia would get
another power-play
opportunity and would score
their third power-play goal
of the game as Ricky McPhail
would snipe a beautiful shot
just inside the post to give
the Sting a 4-0 lead, Devin
Butler and Jared Bourque
picked up assists on the
play. Several times
throughout the game, Sarnia
netminder, Riley Collins was
called upon to preserve his
own shut out. Late in the
third period the Sting would
hammer home the proverbial
“nail in the coffin” as
Devin Butler would score to
make it 5-0 for the Sting
with Austin Cooper getting
the assist as the Sting
would sweep the Hamilton
Reps in three straight games
giving the Sting the AA
Playoff Championship to cap
off a great season.
