The Sarnia Beavers lost a
close one on Saturday in
Ontario Senior B Lacrosse
against the leagues #2 team
the Oakville Titans with a
final score of 7 - 6.
This is the fifth loss in a
row for the Beavers.
Oakville scored 3 unanswered
goals in the first period
with Dan Hamlett, Stu Gordon
and Cal Kitson scoring.
In the second the Beavers
narrowed the gap after
scoring 4 goals in the
period. Oakville
scored 2 to take a 5 - 4
lead at the end of the
second. Michael
Fleming opened the scoring
for the Beavers followed by
Kevin Fines. Colin
McDowal and Jeff Sauve each
added goals later in the
second. Slavko Lysyk
and Jeff Sehl scored for the
Titans,
In the third period each
side shared a pair of
goals with Andy Cadieux and
Colin McDowall scoring
for Sarnia and Cam Monroe
scored both goals for
Oakville.
Dan Walters took the loss
for the Beavers in net.
J Preece earned the win.
Oakville took a total of 28
penalty minutes on 7
occasions, Sarnia took 37
minutes on 10 infractions.
Oakville went 2 for 5 on the
power play, Sarnia went 0
for 2.
The Beavers are now 5 - 7
for the season. They
travel to St. Catharines on
Friday June 29 to go up
against the league leading
Saints then return home for
their last home game when
they host the #3 Brooklin
Merchants on Saturday at
8:00 pm at Clearwater Arena.
Their final two games are on
the road in Owen Sound and
St. Catharines.
