Noland
Riley, Kyle
Adams,
Kurtis
Adams and
Hunter Bryce
are heading
to St. Louis
this August
as members
of Team
Ontario to
compete at
the State
Wars VIII
Inline
hockey
tournament.
Tryouts for
Team Ontario
were held in
the Toronto
area in May.
State Wars is the major roller hockey
event that takes place every summer
where all of the state and provincial
teams will compete for the United States
Roller Hockey Championship. Both
Adams
brothers
have won
championships
in previous
years.
Noland Riley
and Kyle
Adams are
forwards and
will be
playing in
the Peewee
division.
(1997),
Kurtis
Adams, a
goalie
(1995) will
compete in
the Bantam
Division and
Hunter Bryce
(1996) has
been asked
to play in
two
division,
Bantam and
Midget for
Team
Ontario.
Hunter plays
forward and
defence.
All boys
agree that
inline
hockey is
different
than ice
hockey.
"With just
four players
on the floor
it offers a
faster pace,
more goals
and is non
contact."
said Kyle
Adams who
has been
playing
inline
hockey for
seven years.
"I take more
shots that
are harder
to stop as
you can't
slide" said
goaltender
Kurtis
Adams,
(brother of
Kyle) "You
have to play
with a
different
style and be
creative."
The event offers contest for individual
categories: fastest skater (Hunter Bryce won last year), accuracy, goalie and
shootout. Also sixteen players will be selected from each of the teams in
each of the division to form and play in the All Star Games.
