World Class Fast Pitch coming to Alvinston
Wednesday June 13, 2012

The little town of Alvinston represents the first stop for the New Zealand Men's National team on their tour through Southwest Ontario, as they prepare for the Legends Fastball Tournament next weekend (June 22, 23, 24) in Kitchener. The New Zealand Black Sox Fastpitch team, a top Men's Fastpitch team in the world, will be bringing their world class lineup to Alvinston, and playing Lambton County's lone Men's Fastpitch team, the Alvinston Indians.

The game is set for Monday, June 18, with game one starting at 7:00pm, when the local Indians face off against the high octane New Zealanders. Game 2, pits the New Zealand Black Sox against the St. Thomas & District Major Fastball League Selects, a contingent of many of the top players in the St. Thomas & District Major Fastball League, the league in which the reigning 2011 playoff champion Alvinston Indians compete, against six others squads.

The Alvinston Indians have been a competitive team in the Ontario Fastball circuit throughout the past 15 years, winning several accolades, including 5 Ontario Championships over the years, as well as the highlight being their ISC II Championship in 2002, in addition to two top 15 finishes over the past two seasons in the ISC World Tournament. This is impressive, but it doesn't compare to the 5 time ISF World Champions in New Zealand, who were the best country in the world in Fastpitch for 12 straight years from 1996 until 2009.

Tickets for this International Doubleheader are still on sale from any member of the Alvinston Indians, or they can be purchased at the gates this Monday. Tickets are 5 dollars each, and this event represents a once in a lifetime opportunity for anyone in Lambton County or the deep south of Southern Ontario, to be a part of some top notch fast pitch action. Any fastball enthusiast will not want to miss out on this event!

Help support the Alvinston Indians by not missing out on this event and fundraiser to help pay for new lights being installed soon. Be sure to arrive early to not miss out on the pre-game ceremonies, which will begin at 6:45pm sharp. Programs will be available , the concession stand will be fired up, 50/50 tickets will be sold, and cold refreshments will be available in the Bullpen behind the left field fence. We are in store for what should be a great doubleheader. See you there!
