Undefeated teams Pants Party and Red Army faced off at Canatara in week five Sarnia Ultimate Frisbee action.
Red Army managed to snag the lead 8-7 to close out the first half with evenly matched play. Pants Party managed to capitalize on a few Red Army mistakes in the second half, stringing together a few points. Red Army was unable to recover, and Pants Party won the game 15-10. Youngster Connor Lukas stood out handling the disc for Pants Party.
In other play, Sea Bass and the Gang had a break though game over at the Lansdowne fields, winning their first of the season against the Banana Hammocks. A cohesive zone defence and a quick flowing offence got them out to a 9-1 lead. But the Bananas found another gear with some great layout plays from Jordan Cote. Sea Bass held on for the 15-9 win.
The Bulldogs won their second straight game, in a close, competitive match against the winless Huckstables. The Bulldogs got out to an early 5-1 lead, but some steady play from Kelly MacDonald helped the Huckstables close out the first half 8-7. The Bulldogs’ outlasted their opponents 15-13. Defensive specialist Mel Sherlock had a standout game for the winning side.
Hungate’s Mom remained undefeated with an easy win over the lowly Wolfpack. Experienced handling made short work of the slower, less talented opponents. The final score was 15-3.
Only Wolfpack and the Huckstables remain winless heading into week six.
The only remaining undefeated teams – Hungate’s Mom and Pants Party – put their records on the line this week in a Canatara Park showdown starting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
