Thursday
evening,
the
Alvinston
Indians
played
host to
the
Morpeth
Magic at
home,
and both
teams
were
impressive
in this
seven
inning
thriller.
The
pitching
matchup
of Kyle
Crawford
for
Alvinston
and Greg
Guy for
Morpeth
was the
story on
this
night.
The only
run for
either
team
would
come in
the
fourth
inning,
when
Jeff
Lyons
tripled
for
Alvinston,
and
scored
on an
RBI
single
by Chris
Drew.
Morpeth's
only hit
came in
the
seventh
when
Kyle
Vink
doubled,
but
Crawford
shut the
Magic
down to
preserve
the
shutout
victory
for
Alvinston.
Crawford
tossed
seven
innings
of
shutout
ball for
Alvinston,
with one
walk,
one hit
batsman,
1 hit (a
double),
and 11
strikeouts.
Andy
Triest
and
Chris
Drew
were
both 2/3
for
Alvinston,
while
Lyons
and Joe
Triest
had the
other
hits for
the home
squad.
Guy was
impressive
as
always
for
Morpeth,
suffering
the hard
luck
loss,
while
striking
out 10
Alvinston
swingers.
Alvinston
was
scheduled
to play
Sunday,
but that
game
will be
rescheduled
against
Shedden.
Alvinston
hits the
diamond
again on
Tuesday
evening,
when
they
travel
to
Fingal
to play
the St.
Thomas
Storm.
