Sarnia Imperials Defeat Toronto Raiders 47 - 20

In this home/home series with the first game in Sarnia at Norm Perry Park, the Imperials led 13 - 12 at the half and went on to win with a final score of 47 - 20.

Leading the Sarnia Imperials with 4 TD's was Ryan Lounsbury on 4 catches and 194 yards, other majors were John Bain on a 108 yard blocked field goal attempt, Julian Shadd-Gentry with a 35 yard screen and a 2 yard run for a total of 7 TD's. Chipping in with 5 converts was Kevin Allaer and Ryan Lounsbury got into the kicking with an extra point as well. With all this offense in the air Steve Perry lit up the sky with 341 yards going 11 for 22 passing.

Even while the passing game was working, the running game was no slouch, DeShawn Hayes ran for 94 yards 12 carries as Josh Barker added a tough 33 yards on 6 carries.

The Imperials total running yardage was 173 yards on 29 carries.

Defensively for the Imperials, they held the Raiders to a very low 49 yards rushing on 15 attempts but refuse to shut down the passing game once again with a huge 340 yards in the air on 19 completions with 35 attempts. John bain played like a man possessed with a 108 yard blocked field goal run back for a TD and 5 tackles 2 for losses. Ricky gorton chipped in with 2 interceptions and jama Njoku with 1. Norm Yellowman and Steve Mati chipped in with 4 tackles each. Final Score was 47-20 Imperials victory.


 

The Imperials are 4 - 3 in the standings race with this win.  The Imperials have one regular league game remaining in Toronto against the Raiders next Saturday July 28. 

Playoffs are set to begin on August 4th.  Sarnia is expected to have home field advantage.
