Esso vs. Casual FC
Esso took a night off a regular season
Sarnia Mens Industrial Soccer League action and was challenged to a
friendly match.
The game started off as a little
hesitant and both teams tried to figure out each teams playing
styles, in the first half they were a few chances but neither team
could convert. The half time Whistle blew with the score 0-0
In the 2nd
half each team desperately tried to get the first goal with both
teams pushing and some near misses by each team. The full time
whistle blew with the game scoreless.
That meant the game would go into 2 five
minute half’s, and if still tied game would go in to penalty kicks.
In the first five minute session there were some near goals by Esso,
but ball was sent wide on a few occasions. With the game looking
like it would go into penalty kicks, but in the 98 minute, Mike
Willigenburg put a header far side past the Casual Goalie giving
Esso the 1-0 Lead. Casual Soccer did have one last chance in the
dying moments on an excellent run but the ball was off target. The
final Whistle blew with the score 1-0 Esso.
This was a good game to get Esso
ready to play City Centre Car Wash in their first match in the Cosmo
Cup Group Stage, the game will take place on Wednesday July 18th
at Norm Perry Back field. Kickoff is at 6:30.
