On Wednesday
evening, the
Alvinston
Indians
travelled to
Glanworth, and
shutout their
opponents 10-0.
The game was
never out of
reach until the
last inning,
when Alvinston
scored 6 runs
too put the game
out of reach.
Alvinston scored
1 in the first,
1 in the second,
2 in the fourth
inning, and then
the 6 runs in
the seventh
inning. On the
mound, the
Indians sent
veteran Doug
Charlton to the
mound, and he
was very
effective.
Charlton tossed
a complete game
shutout,
allowing 3 hits
in seven innings
of work, with no
walks, and 8
strikeouts.
In the first,
Jamie Shields
singled,
advanced to
third after Jeff
Ingram reached
first via an
error, and then
scored on an RBI
single by Jeff
Lyons. In the
second, a walk
to Alix Chisholm
got him to
first, he then
advanced to
second on a wild
pitch, and
scored on an RBI
single by Craig
Lyons. In the
fourth inning,
the Indians got
everything going
with two outs,
when Aaron
Stocking
singled, and
then scored all
the way from
first, after a
clutch triple by
Chisholm. C.
Lyons then added
his second RBI
of the game,
when he plated
Chisholm after
he singled
again. In the
seventh, the
Indians went to
work in a big
way, putting the
game out of
reach. Chris
Drew led off the
inning, by
belting a
homerun to dead
centre field.
Jeff Lyons
reached base via
a fielder's
choice with one
out. and then
Stocking
followed with a
walk, putting
runners on first
and second.
Chisholm then
followed with an
RBI double to
score J. Lyons.
Stocking then
came home to
score, after C.
Lyons' third RBI
of the game,
when he hit a
sacrifice fly to
left field. Andy
Triest and Alex
Ritchie both
reached base via
errors to keep
the inning
going, which
ultimately
plated Chisholm,
and then a two
out RBI single
by Jamie Shields
scored both
Triest and
Ritchie, for the
9th and 10th
runs.
Chisholm was 2/3
for the Indians
with a double,
triple, three
runs scored, and
two RBI's. Young
Indians rookie
Craig Lyons was
also 2/3, with 3
RBI's. Catcher
Jamie Shields
was 3/4 in the
game, with a
double, a run
scored, and 2
RBI's.
