Sarnia Express chugged their way to get past the Bluewater Sharks
 February 21th, 2012

On Sunday February 19th, Sarnia Express Women's Senior AA hockey team were home to the Bluewater Sharks. Sarnia came out very strong in the first period, and despite outshouting and outskating the Sharks, the Express went down 2-0. It was looking like nothing was getting by the Bluewater net minder when finally after much pressure in front of the opposing net, Alicia MacDougall slid a low shot in to close the gap. Brandy Warner and Teresa Futers both assisted. Shortly after Brandi Warner would net herself one tying things up for the Express. Cori Savo assisted.

The momentum finally starting going Sarnia's way when Alicia MacDougall redirected a hard shot from the point by Sheila Meyskens. Cori Savo picked up an assist. Bluewater would eventually get back in things with a nice goal of their own, bringing it to 3-3. But Brandi Warner would take a nice pass up the middle from Alicia MacDougall, and send a bullet into the back of the net. The game would finish in Sarnia's favor 4-3. Kate Rawlings was in net for Sarnia, and kept them in it.

This was the last regular season game. Sarnia Express ended up in 3rd place out of an 8 team division. Quite a respectable finish considering they played many games with a very short bench due to injuries. This was the teams very first season together and they faired very well. Playoffs should begin in the next week or so.
