Sarnia Minor Atom MD defeats the Bandits in playdowns

Cole Goossens had a hat-trick while Collin Zimmer and Tyler Talbot-Ellis added singles to power the Jr. Sting Major Atom MD in the 5 - 1 victory over the London Bandits in the second game of the Alliance West MD play downs.

 

Cole scored his first goal unassisted with 3 minutes left in the first on a high wrist shot. The Bandits answered back with just 19 seconds left in the opening frame to tie the game.

 

Tyler Talbot-Ellis scored the second period’s only goal. Tyler turned on the jets to beat the London defender on the outside and fired a low shot that found the corner of the Bandits goal. Collin Zimmer and Mat Waun assisted on Tyler’s goal.

 

In the third period Cole Goossens struck for the second time from Mat Waun and Collin Zimmer and 3 minutes later Collin Zimmer picked up a loose puck in front of the London net and fired home a backhand shot to give the Jr. Sting a 3 goal lead. Cole Goossens and Aiden Clark assisted on Collins marker. Cole Goossens finished off his hat trick with four minutes left in the game with Collin Zimmer and Damon Skinn-Wai assisting.

 

Tyler Talbot-Ellis was awarded the Coach’s player of the game and Cole Goossens was the parents pick. Cameron Stevens earned the victory in net for the Jr. Sting. The Major Atom MD team is back on the road tomorrow Sunday February 19 to face the Stratford Warriors. Game time is 11:00
