Gas tank ran low in third for Sarnia Jr Sting Minor Atom in game two of playoffs
February 18, 2012

The Sarnia Minor Atom Md's played their second play-off game on Thursday night @ Germain Arena vs. the London Bandits Orange. Sarnia had some success against the Orange Bandit team having tied their last meeting.

The Jr. Sting were pumped and ready to go at puck drop however the Bandits came to play. London pinned Sarnia early in the first period and continued pressuring in their zone with numerous scoring chances arising. Sting goalie, Ian Stouth stood strong in goal, making big saves when required. Eventually London's efforts would be rewarded as they opened the scoring halfway into the first. They would take a two goal lead heading into the second.

Sarnia would finally find their legs, and begin the second with more intensity and urgency. Sarnia defenseman, Kristian Spitzig would lead the charge barreling his way to the London goal firing a wicked slapshot which found its way into the open net. The goal seemed to spark the kids and send a new lifeline into the Sting bench. Continuous pressure was mounted into the London zone and the kids were focused on scoring the equalizer. As the period winded down, Sting winger Adam Ikhert would finally answer the prayers and tie the game on a beautiful wrist shot. Sarnia would start the third knotted at 2's.

Although Sarnia started the third on a high it seemed that the gas tank would run out. London would score three more times in the third to close the game winning 5 - 3.

Sarnia returns to London to face the same Bandits Orange on Saturday Feb. 18th
