Sting's Chiarlitti included in OHL January Academic Players of the Month

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League announced the OHL Academic Players of the Month for January, 2012, which includes Nathan Chiarlitti of the Sarnia Sting, Curtis Meighan of the Kitchener Rangers, Carter Verhaeghe of the Niagara IceDogs, and Daniel Altshuller of the Oshawa Generals.

West Division- The OHL Academic Player of the Month for January in the West Division is Defenseman Nathan Chiarlitti of the Sarnia Sting. Chiarlitti, who recently turned 20-years-old from Maple, Ontario, is registered in a Bachelor of Science program at the University of Guelph. Over the past two seasons, Nathan has worked hard to combine on-ice success with excellence in the classroom. During the fall semester this year, Nathan completed two courses at the University of Guelph with an 80% average and is currently enrolled in Marketing and Family Studies. Nathan is an excellent example of how an OHL player can achieve “The Best of Both Worlds”.


Midwest Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for January in the Midwest Division is Center Curtis Meighan of the Kitchener Rangers. Meighan, a 17-year-old native of Ottawa, Ontario, is described by both his coaches and teachers as a very hardworking young man who continually strives for success. His focus and dedication to excellence will serve him well as he continues to pursue his academic and athletic goals.

 

Central Division- The OHL Academic Player of the Month for January in the Central Division is Center Carter Verhaeghe of the Niagara IceDogs. Verhaeghe, a 16-year-old native of Waterdown, Ontario, is currently maintaining an 84% average in his Grade 11 University prep courses while attending Governor Simcoe Secondary School.

 

East Division- The OHL Academic Player of the Month for January in the East Division is Goaltender Daniel Altshuller of the Oshawa Generals. Altshuller, a 17-year-old native of Ottawa, Ontario, attends Henry Street High School. Dan is currently taking University credits and he is achieving an 86% average. Dan is excelling both in classroom as well as on the ice.

October – Ryan Duhaime, Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors
 

East Division:
January – Daniel Altshuller, Oshawa Generals
December – Andrew Tessier, Kingston Frontenacs
November – Michael Curtis, Belleville Bulls
October – Slater Koekkoek, Peterborough Petes
