The Titans and a lot of new faces head up 2012 All Stars and Awards
Brandon Lewis continues to be like fine wine, with age, he still amasses Northern Football Conference All Star and Awards honours. From the tabulations of All Star and Awards as conducted by League Coaches and Players along with consideration of weighted statistical data, Lewis and Toronto Titan pivot Tom Denison were once again the big winners. Denison, the two time C.I.A.U. Hec Crighton Award (2002 & 2003) winner who lead the League in all major statistical passing categories and established several new records was a landslide winner as M.V.P. for the second time and as well as Offensive Player of the Year.
Veteran Brandon Lewis who also now coaches the Sault Steelers earned his 16th All Star nod on the Defensive Line which extends his record for one position. Lewis has also garnered 15 straight nods on the Defensive Line which is also a record. As well, with Lewis earning Defensive Lineman of the Year honours for a third consecutive year, this pushes his Career Awards total to 18, also, a record. Another multiple winner is Toronto Titans receiver, Kevin Walsh. He topped the League scoring chart with 96 points, was co-winner of the Leo Troy Memorial Award for Rookie of the Year and tabbed as a Receiver on the All Star unit.
Like 2010 and 2011, there are a great many newcomers to the lists with 16 of the 28 positions with first time winners.
The Champion Titans lead the way with 7 all star nods. The surprising Sarnia Imperials earned their most All Star honours since they entered the N.F.C. with 6 followed by League Finalists Ottawa and Tri City at 5 each, the Sault with 4 and Oakville with 1. For the Awards, the Titans lead the parade with 6, Tri City had 2 and Oakville, Ottawa, Sault and Toronto Raiders had one apiece. The Champion Titans will be taking on the Alberta Champion Lloydminster Vandals for the Canadian Senior Championship in Lloydminster on September 22nd.
