Wyoming Wins Series to Advance to WCBL Finals Against Sarnia Braves

Wyoming Cattlebarons defeated the Port Lambton Pirates 5-2 Friday night in Wyoming to win their first round series 2-0. Wyoming starter Mark Schoenmaker silenced the Port Lambton bats all night while the Wyoming offence had a couple timely hits to score runs. Wyoming jumped out to a 1st inning lead with an RBI single by Erick O'Brien scoring Matt McGrail. Justin Grift would come around to score the same inning on a pass ball.

Up 2-0 after one Wyoming would score another run in the 2nd and two more in the 4th off a 2 run home run by catcher Chris Pool. That would be the end of the night for Port Lambton starter Jake Taylor giving way for Jason Huston who shut down the Wyoming offence not allowing a hit or run giving his team a chance to get back into the game.

Port Lambton would manage to get 2 runs in the top of the 7th but couldn't get any closer. Schoenmaker would go the distance giving up 1 hit, walking 1 and striking out 5. Kevin Hay would get the lone hit for the Pirates, a single in the 7th. Wyoming offence was once again lead by Matt McGrail with 2 singles. Erick O'Brien and Matt Helps each and a single in the win.

Wyoming advances to the championship series against Sarnia who beat out Corunna in 2 games in their first round series. Dates and times of the games are TBD.
