banquet
Wednesday
night at
the
Point
Edward
Ex-Servicemen's
Club in
Point
Edward.
Liam
Wright
earned
The
Douglass
Daye Sr
Memorial
Award
for the
Player
who
Exemplifies
Heart,
Hustle
and
Desire,
later on
he was
also
presented
with the
McNeil
Insurance
Brokers
Award
for
Rookie
of the
Year.
The Herb
Lea
Memorial
Trophy
for Best
Defensive
Player
was
presented
to Ryan
Charteris.
The
In-Motion
Health
Wellness
and
Fitness
award
for Top
Scorer
of the
season
went to
TJ Mara.
Mara was
also
given
the
honour
of
receiving
the Jack
Zonneville
Trophy
for MVP
of the
year.
The
Harold
Snell
Memorial
Trophy
was
presented
to the
Sarnia
Pacers
Most
Sportsmanlike
Player
Mike
Ravenhorst.
Connor
Smith
earned
the Cal
Adams
Memorial
Trophy
Unsung
Hero
Award
and Cody
Ross was
presented
with the
Ivan
Denure
Memorial
Award
for Most
Improved
Player.
The Most
Dedicated
Pacer,
The Tom
Wright
Sr
Memorial
Trophy
was
presented
to Ben
Walker.
The Barr
Award to
recognize
high
achievement
in the
sport of
Lacrosse
was
presented
to Off
Floor
Official
Steve
Kutz and
his
staff
Len
Saunders,
Dave
Mara,
Ryan
Davis
and Dan
Dunn.


Later in
the
evening
Manager
Ken
Barrett
made the
official
announcement
that the
Jr. B
Pacers
will
have a
new home
for the
2013
season.
Point
Edward
Mayor
Dick
Kirkland
and
Councillor
Bev
Hands
was
present
for the
official
signing
of the
contract.
"Welcome
Back"
said
Mayor
Kirkland
in his
address
to the
crowd on
hand
"I'm
glad the
signing
of the
contract
will
bring
Lacrosse
back to
Point
Edward".
Returning
to the
bench
next
year is
Coach
Kevin
Hugget
who
compliments
the
executive
as he is
looking
forward
to next
year.
Hugget
will be
holding
training
sessions
throughout
the
winter.
" I'm
hoping
the
players
will
come in
better
condition
for next
year.
I'm
looking
for 25
dedicate
athletes
who want
to learn
the
game."
said
Huggett.
"if
there
are
young
people
out
there
that
want to
learn
this
game to
contact
the
team".
Hugget
invites
people
who have
never
played
before
to join
them
over the
winter
to
learn.
The
training
session
will be
held at
the MMA
facilities
on
London
Road.
Hugget
is also
please
with the
move
back to
Point
Edward.
"It's
like
coming
home for
me"
Hugget
said "I
played
all my
junior
lacrosse
in the
Point,
so I'm
coming
home,
it's a
good
thing".
