Sarnia Legionnaire graduate Evan Dixon will be skating with an NCAA team next winter.
Dixon, who will be attending the University of Wisconsin, scored 19 regular season and playoff goals for Sarnia's Jr. 'B' squad last season.
After college, he hopes to suit up with a pro hockey club in North America or Europe.
Legionnaire coach Dan Rose said Dixon earned a spot in the NCAA. He added Dixon is a solid two-way player who does not neglect defensive assignments. He's also a good powerplay man and an excellent penalty killer, Rose said.
Rose added hockey officials in Wisconsin “are pretty excited about having him there. I think he'll do really well.”
Dixon is the second member of last year's Legionnaire team to move up the ladder. Last month, Jesse Drydak signed a contract to play pro hockey in Germany.
